Our Mission
Ratios show up everywhere — recipes, finance, mixing, aspect ratios, map scales — but most calculators online only handle one narrow case. We built a single tool that covers the three things people actually search for: simplifying a ratio, solving a missing value in a proportion, and comparing two ratios to see which is bigger.
Our Methodology
Every calculation uses standard, verifiable mathematics:
- Simplify — dividing both sides by their greatest common divisor (GCD)
- Solve for X — cross multiplication, the standard method for solving proportions
- Compare — cross-multiplying both ratios and comparing the products
You can see the full breakdown, including the exact method and a worked example, on our Step-by-Step Example section.
Editorial Standards
Our content is written to be genuinely useful, not padded for search engines. We use standard mathematical methods and keep explanations clear and practical.
What We're Building Next
We're working on support for three-part ratios (common in recipes and mixing) and a dedicated recipe-scaling tool, continuing the same standard: transparent math, no dark patterns, free forever.
